DETECTIVES investigating the murder of Terry Leeks are still looking to identify one person captured on CCTV near the time he was attacked.

Mr Leeks, who would have turned 47 last week, was stabbed in Northlands Park, Basildon at around 1.30am on 11 July. He later died in hospital.

Earlier this month police released CCTV footage of a group of four people they want to identify who may have information about what happened to Terry.

Officers now believe they have identified three of the people in the footage but are continuing to appeal for information about the fourth person. They are also trying to identify everyone who was in the park at the time of the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe, who is leading the investigation, said: "We know there were a number of people fishing at the lake overnight as well as other people in the park.

"We have spoken to some people but not everyone and I need anyone who was in Northlands Park in the early hours of 11 July to contact my team.

"We are making good progress with the investigation but it's really important we're able to identify everyone in the area that night and speak to them.

"If you were in the park, or know someone who was, please come forward.

"If you were in the park, have any information about someone who was, or recognise the person in the CCTV footage please call us on 101 quoting the crime reference number 42/136379/21.

"You can also submit information to us through a special portal we've set up via this link. Or you can report it online [L]https://www.essex.police.uk [L+]here[.l} where you can use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers and you will stay anonymous. Crimestoppers won't ask your name or any personal details, they won't record your call and your number won't be displayed.

"When information is passed from Crimestoppers to the police, it doesn't contain any information which could identify you."
