Radio presenter Johnny Jenkins will be running the London Marathon next year, to raise money for small charities across the UK.

Johnny, 22, will tackle the 26 mile race on the streets of London in April 2023.

The Drivetime presenter has been a keen runner since picking up the hobby in 2020 between reporting on the coronavirus lockdowns.

Revealing the news to his Gateway 97.8 listeners, Johnny said: "I can't quite believe that I've got a place in the marathon! Just three years ago I wouldn't even run for the bus and now I'm tackling the most iconic run in the world.

"At the moment, I'm excited but also very nervous. I run a lot at the moment but this is another level!

"I'm trying to build up my kilometres at the moment to make sure I'm ready for April.

"I really appreciate the donations I've received so far. I know times are tough at the moment but if you are able, I would love for you to donate to Global's Make Some Noise."

The journalist's chosen cause supports a collection of small charities across the UK. It's organised through the media group Global, where Johnny also works as a Producer at LBC Radio.

Around 40,000 are expected to take part in the London Marathon, which will take place in April next year after being held in October this year.
