BASILDON town centre's new Vue cinema will open on Thursday, 25 July.

The cinema's largest screen will hold more than 300 cinemagoers, with nine other screens showing the latest films, plus VIP and Recliner seating.

The East Square development is also home to Kaspa's Desserts, Nando's and Orleto Lounge, offering a variety of choice for visitors.

On Friday 2 August, Vue is hosting a Family Fun Day featuring a range of family friendly activities:

•  Face painting, balloon modelling, a circus skills workshop and a community window colouring in event throughout the day
• Dino meet and greets at East Square – 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 3.30pm
• Ranger and baby dino meet and greets at East Square – 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm
• Dino story time at East Square – 11.45am, 12.15pm, 1.30pm, 2.15pm, 3.45pm
• Ranger and baby dino meet and greets at Eastgate Shopping Centre – 10.30am, 12pm, 1.30pm
• Ranger ride on fun at Eastgate Shopping Centre – 11.15am, 12.45pm, 14.15pm
