It amazon-ing. Donation to Basildon LGBTQ+ community

By Nub News Reporter 18th Dec 2022

A BASILDON charity supporting the LGBTQ+ community has received a £2,000 donation following nominations of support from employees at Amazon's head office in London.

The donation was made to Basildon Pride, a volunteer-run charity that delivers the annual Basildon Pride Festival. The charity also runs a programme of physical and virtual events through the Basildon Pride Everyday initiative, as well as an LGBTQ+ support group.

The donation from Amazon helped fund Basildon Pride's annual festival and to assist with delivering their Basildon Pride Everyday initiative.

Speaking on the donation, Andrea Ravnik, Amazon in the Community UK Lead, said: "The team at Basildon Pride works throughout the year to support and celebrate LGBT+ communities across the borough and we're pleased to provide assistance with this donation. I hope the funds help the charity continue its vital work in support of communities in Basildon and across Essex."

Dave Bedson at Basildon Pride CIO added: "We rely on community donations to bring our programme of events and support to the people of the Basildon Borough so we would like to thank Amazon for choosing us to receive this support. We are proud to make a difference in the Basildon community and donations like this allow us to continue to promote inclusion, diversity and equality across the region."
