A man who murdered a 42-year-old inside a block of flats will serve at least 23 years of a life sentence in prison.
Hassan Bousanguar was attacked by Codey Nolan, 34, at an address in Vange, near Basildon, on 4 May 2024 and died from his injuries seven months later.
Officers from Essex Police found a trail of blood inside a communal hallway and evidence of a struggle inside the property when they arrived.
Jurors at Basildon Crown Court unanimously convicted Nolan, from the town, of murder on Tuesday and he was sentenced on Wednesday.

Hassan Bousanguar was described by his family as "the most genuine and reliable friend"
The attack took place at an address in the Riverview Centre and Mr Bousanguar was found injured in the hallway afterwards.
Police arrested Nolan five days later and he was jailed for causing Mr Bousanguar grievous bodily harm with intent in November 2024.
However, he was later charged with and tried for murder after the victim died.
Det Ch Insp Louise Metcalfe, who led both investigations, said: "At the centre of all our work has been Hassan, his family, and securing the justice they deserve."
"I hope this outcome serves as a small comfort to those who knew and loved him."
