NEWS plans are being drawn up for 150 homes behind existing properties in Billericay.
Developer Hollybrook is proposing to build the new homes on land behind 41-65 Potash Road.
The site is situated on open, rural land, which is used in part for equestrian activities, such as horse riding, with some structures related to these activities located in the southern part of the site.
The plans include homes which are mostly two storeys high, associated ancillary works, car parking and landscaping.
It's the latest attempt to develop the site, following previous plans that have been proposed for the site.
Plans for P & A Investments Limited and P D Developments Essex Limited for up to 150 dwellings and a 50-bed care home were refused by the council. The developer later lost an appeal with the Government's Planning Inspectorate, which also rejected the proposals due to concerns raised last January.
P & A Investments Limited and P D Developments Essex Limited had also previously drawn up initial plans for 200 homes and a care home with up to 50 beds on land to the rear of 33 Potash Road, Billericay.
The latest plans by Hollybrook state: "The scheme has been designed to retain some existing woodland areas and prioritise ecological sustainability throughout.
"The proposed development also includes supporting infrastructure such as parking, landscaping, sustainable drainage features, and other associated works to create a well-integrated and inclusive community. The proposed development will deliver new homes, including affordable homes to meet identified local needs.
"Where possible, trees and hedgerows are to be retained onsite to enhance local identity and support biodiversity. In the event of habitat loss on-site, off-site compensation will be secured providing an additional measurable Net Gain in biodiversity.
"Design will ensure delivery of a high-quality architectural design that compliments the surrounding urban context, improves the local townscape character and enhances the appearance of views."
