A POPULAR rural pub near Wickford closed this weeik for a four week transformation and renovation.

The Hawk, in Battlebridge, is part of the Premium Country Pub Collection

UIts operators say the 'newly reimagined venue' will blend the charm of a country pub with a modern elegant look.

It will reopen on Friday, 6 March.

The country pub will also include a private function room with seating for up to 32 guests.

The beer garden will also be getting a refreshed look as part of the renovation with improvements including new festooned lighting perfect for those early summer evenings.

Commenting on The Hawk's transformation, general manager Jenny Aldridge said: "We are counting down the days to our reopening, and we can't wait to reveal our beautiful new look next month.

"The team and I are looking forward to welcoming local people back through our doors."
