Buzzing and blooming

Local News by Nub News Reporter 1 hour ago

ON Thursday, 11 June Buzz and Bloom Toddler Group at The Hive on Honeypot Lane, Basildon, took part in The Great Big Green Week, celebrating nature and encouraging even the youngest members of the community to care for the environment.

The toddlers spent the morning helping to look after nature in the group's garden, taking part in a variety of fun and educational activities. One of the highlights was a mini bug hunt, where the children explored the garden and discovered the many insects and creatures living among the plants and greenery. The youngsters also enjoyed leaf printing, creating colourful nature-inspired artwork using leaves collected from around the garden.

To round off the day's activities, the children enjoyed a teddy bears' picnic, bringing together outdoor play, friendship, and a love of nature in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

The celebrations were also supported by the Wednesday Volunteer Garden Club, who marked The Great Big Green Week by continuing their valuable work in the Hive Garden. Volunteers spent time maintaining and improving the garden, helping to create a welcoming green space for wildlife and the local community.

Their ongoing efforts play an important role in protecting and nurturing nature for future generations.

A spokesperson said: "The Great Big Green Week provided a wonderful opportunity for both children and volunteers to connect with nature, learn about the environment, and celebrate the importance of caring for the world around us.

"If you would like to get involved with the work, we are doing at Basildon URC, please get in touch by emailing [email protected]."
