ARMED Forces Day, which takes place on the last Saturday each June, will be commemorated in Basildon with a town centre march starting at 12noon on Saturday, 29 June.

It will be a parade made up of hundreds of serving personnel, service families, veterans and cadets who will march from Toys R Us in Basildon Town Centre towards St Martin's Square.

It is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from current serving personnel to service families, veterans, and cadets.

It also marks the culmination of a week celebrations, beginning on Monday 24 June, when a flag raising ceremony, held by the Mayor of Basildon, will take place at 11am at the Basildon Centre.

THURROCK Council will also be honouring the men and women who serve in the armed forces later this month.

Thurrock will be raising its tribute flag on Monday, 24 June at 10am, outside the Town Hall in Grays and it will fly all week.

A parade to the flagpole will be led by Piper Jo Goddard, before the ceremony when the Mayor Cllr Kairen Raper, hoists the flag.
