A MAN has been charged with a series of sexual offences and assaults after an investigation by specialist detectives.

 In June, a report was made to Northumbria Police concerning an allegation of rape at an address in Chelmsford.

 Across a subsequent investigation carried out by Essex Police, further allegations of domestic abuse and sexual offending arose.

 Following work from the Essex force's Adult Sexual Abuse Investigations Team, a man was arrested in Basildon yesterday (Saturday, 26 August).

Charges have since been authorised against Harry Blackhall-Waite, 22, of Cobden Walk, Basildon.

He has been charged with 2x rape, attempted rape, intentional strangulation, 2x assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage and sending a communication conveying a threatening message.

He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Monday 28 August.
