A DRUG dealer who controlled a drugs line in Basildon has been jailed for nearly six years.

Tyrese Terry employed drug runners for the Leon line to deliver crack cocaine and heroin to users between February and June this year.

The 20-year-old, of Goldings Crescent, Basildon, was arrested on 9 June this year. He admitted conspiracy to supply crack cocaine and heroin at Basildon Crown Court on Tuesday 13 July and was jailed the same day for five years and eight months.

PC Mark Fulbrook, of the Basildon Operation Raptor team, said: "The court heard Terry had two previous convictions for being involved in drugs supply and had been involved in the Leon line for a number of years, having taken over control from someone else.

"He knew we'd find him sooner rather than later and put him before the courts.

"Time and again we see young people like Terry caught in this cycle, who think drug dealing is an easy way to make money without thinking of the consequences.

"If you're caught, you'll be prosecuted and face being put behind bars. The impact on you and your family can be huge.

"You also risk being in debt to your associates, who will have no qualms in extorting money from you or your family through violence and intimidation."
