A POPULAR piece of public art has made a return to Basildon town centre as the Man Aspires piece was given pride of place in its new home in East Square.

It was removed from its original home in 2019 and stored securely during the construction of a new 10-screen cinema in East Square.

With exterior construction on the site now complete, Man Aspires was reinstated overlooking the square on 13 May 2022.

One of Basildon's oldest pieces of art, Man Aspires was designed by sculptor A. J. Poole and created from wire and aluminium. During its time in storage, Man Aspires was cleaned to ensure its longevity.
