A CALL has gone out to local residents to help play key roles in a major new youth initiative in the Basildon area.

OnSide Youth Zones are designed to give young people aged eight to 19 years old (25 for those with a disability) somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to in their leisure time; occupying their bodies and minds with fun activities, learning new skills and socialising in a safe, positive way.

And a development group is being launched to drive a new Basildon Youth Zone forward.

A statement from Onside] says: "If you are passionate about making a positive change for young people across the borough, read this and get involved

"Do you want to make a difference in your community?

"Onside is recruiting members for its young people's development Group for Basildon Youth Zone, a new state-of-the-art facility for young people being built in the town centre.

"From developing the youth zone name and brand to shaping what it offers and helping to recruit potential staff members, you will play a huge part in creating a brighter future for thousands of young people.

"Onside will be hosting a Q&A session for parents and young people via Zoom on Thursday, 21 January.

"For more information or to register your interest, email [email protected]."
